Diamond information
Wonder of Nature
There is no other gemstone quite like a diamond. It is found in the most remote places on earth, and the fact that it forms at all is something of a miracle. It takes about one ton of rock to recover less than half a carat of rough, making diamond one of the rarest and most desired gemstone in the world. A diamond is a testament of endurance and strength – and not surprisingly, the ultimate symbol of love.
Treasure of Time
Every diamond is unique. Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment. Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them. These features are called the 4Cs.
According to The GIA Color Scale extends from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Many people think of gem quality diamonds are colorless, truly colorless diamonds are actually very rare. Most diamonds used in jewelry are nearly colorless with tints of yellow or brown.

Color grades are determined by comparing each diamond to a master set. Each letter grade represents a range of color and is a measure of how noticeable a color is.

Fluorescence is the visible light some diamonds emit when they are exposed to invisible ultraviolet (UV) rays, but fluorescence is not a factor in determining color or clarity grades. However, a description of its strength and color is provided on GIA Reports as an additional identifying characteristic.

Most of color grade of diamonds from Alistony Gems are D color to H color which are Colorless to Near Colorless. Alistony Gems provides these high color grades for our high jewelry.
According to GIA Clarity Scale includes eleven clarity grades ranging from Flawless to I3. Diamonds form under tremendous heat and pressure, it is extremely rare to find a diamond that lacks any internal and external characteristics. These characteristics are a byproduct of its formation and help gemologists separate natural diamonds from synthetics and simulants, and identify individual stones.

The GIA Diamond Clarity Scale has 6 categories, some of which are divided, for a total of 11 specific grades.

Flawless (FL)
No inclusions and no blemishes visible under 10x magnification
Internally Flawless (IF)
No inclusions visible under 10x magnification
Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1 and VVS2)
Inclusions so slight they are difficult for a skilled grader to see under 10x magnification
Very Slightly Included (VS1 and VS2)
Inclusions are observed with effort under 10x magnification, but can be characterized as minor
Slightly Included (SI1 and SI2)
Inclusions are noticeable under 10x magnification
Included (I1, I2, and I3)
Inclusions are obvious under 10x magnification which may affect transparency and brilliance

Alistony Gems provides clarity of diamonds from IF (Internally Flawless) to VS1 (Very Slightly Included). These clarity grades are the high level of clarity for our high jewelry.
Excellent to Poor, GIA provides a cut quality grade for standard round brilliant diamonds that fall in the GIA D-to-Z color range.

A diamond's cut grade is really about how well a diamond's facets interact with light.Precise artistry and workmanship are required to fashion a stone so its proportions, symmetry, and polish deliver the magnificent return of light only possible in a diamond.

A polished diamond’s beauty lies in its complex relationship with light: how light strikes the surface, how much enters the diamond, and how, and in what form light returns to your eye.

The result is a magnificent display of three attributes.Brightness is the combination of all white light reflecting from the surface and interior of a diamond.Fire describes the “flares” of color emitted from a diamond.Scintillation describes the flashes of light you see when the diamond, the light, or the observer moves.

polished diamond’s proportions affect its performance, which in turn affects its beauty and overall appeal. Diamonds with fine proportions, symmetry, and polish optimize their interaction with light, and have increased brightness, fire, and scintillation.

Alistony Gems provides the Excellent Cut and Very Good Cut which are the high level of GIA Cut Scale for our high jewelry.
Hearts and Arrows Diamonds are precision cut variations of the traditional 57 faceted round brilliant cut. They are cut to “ideal proportions” with superior optical symmetry, polish and a specific faceting pattern. When all these factors are in harmony the result is a repeatable, near perfect pattern of eight symmetrical arrows in the face up position called 'crown' and eight symmetrical hearts when viewed in the table down position, called 'pavilion'.

Hearts and Arrows Diamonds are not only cut to ideal proportions but must also have superior physical and optical symmetry with very specific facet placement and limited proportion sets in order to produce the perfect hearts and arrow pattern. In fact, the faceting arrangement is extremely important in order to have the H&A visual effect and must be cut to very precise mathematical proportions. This means that all hearts and arrows diamond bezel, star, upper girdle, lower girdle, and pavilion main facets have to be precisely aligned to 180 degrees opposite of each other. If not, the appearance of the “H&A” pattern will be faded, incomplete, distorted, or misaligned in its appearance. The effect of this precision creates a balance between optimum brilliance and scattering of light.

A standard “ideal cut” diamond can take on average an hour to polish. Compare this to a H&A ideal cut diamond that can take up to four days! These diamonds are obviously more costly to produce than regular round or even a standard ideal cut diamond

Alistony Gems provides the H&A cut for our high jewelry even 0.005 ct. also has H&A , so we concern in high standard of our high jewelry.
Carat Weight
For diamonds under one carat, each carat is divided into 100 points – similar to pennies in a dollar. 0.75 = 75 points, ½ ct. = 50 points.
Alistony Gems has the wide range of carat weight for our jewelry.
